Travel Vouchers
Back to The African Potato

There have been a lot of embarrassing revelations recently about MPs committing fraud by cashing in unused travel vouchers. To this end, we would like to suggest some guidelines for members of parliament, which we hope will be considered for adoption by the ANC:

  1. Unless absolutely necessary, do not exchange vouchers for cash in any old travel agency. There are many of your colleagues already engaged in this practice, and find out from them where they do it. You may ask ANC Chief Whip Mbulelo Goniwe or Speaker Baleka Mbete, who have both been caught doing this, but fortunately are still in Parliament.

  2. If those infamous 'fishers of corrupt men', the press, find and publish any of your shady deals, remember the first rule is to STAY CONFIDENT! Even if you are caught red handed, all is not necessarily lost. There are many MPs who have committed fraud, and have successfully manage to avoid even being charged! One of them, Charles Nqakula, is Minister of Safety and Security, so he is also a good contact to make to help you avoid any unnecassary paperwork which may arise with the police.

  3. Try not to look as sheepish as Nqakula does in this photo!
